Strong Support for Lean Thinking in Vocational Education
Teachers who participated in the Lean Thinking Training Program, implemented through the collaboration of the Bursa Provincial Directorate of National Education, BOSIAD, and Yeşim Group together with Hüseyin Özdilek Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School, received their certificates at a ceremony held at Yeşim Group's main production facility in Bursa.
The Lean Thinking Training Program, developed for teachers of Hüseyin Özdilek Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School through the collaboration of the Bursa Provincial Directorate of National Education, BOSIAD, and Yeşim Group, was successfully completed. A certificate ceremony was held at Yeşim Group's main production facility in Bursa for the teachers who completed their training as part of the program.
Designed to strengthen vocational education, connect teachers with current production practices, and enhance industry-school cooperation, the program's closing event gave teachers the opportunity to examine Yeşim Group's production processes on site.
During the technical tour organized as part of the program, participants visited the cutting department, automation applications, apparel production area, and embroidery department, gaining insight into production processes within the textile sector. Production technologies, digitalization practices, and the practical reflections of the lean manufacturing approach on the shop floor were shared with participants.
Neslin Gazioğlu Özkaya, who served as the program's instructor, stated that a strong industry can only be achieved through a robust educational infrastructure and a qualified workforce, noting that the company has embraced lean thinking and a culture of continuous improvement as one of its core working principles for nearly 20 years. Emphasizing that closer engagement between vocational education and the business world, along with teachers experiencing current practices firsthand and conveying them to their students, represents an important investment in the future, Özkaya thanked all stakeholders who contributed to the realization of this collaboration.
Highlighting the importance of collaboration between educational institutions and industrial organizations, Hüseyin Özdilek Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School Principal A. Nevzat Tanışık stated in his remarks that school-industry partnerships play a critical role in the development of vocational and technical education. Noting that the Lean Thinking Training gave teachers the opportunity to become closely acquainted with current production practices, Tanışık stated that such initiatives make significant contributions to improving educational quality and better preparing students for professional life. He thanked the Bursa Provincial Directorate of National Education, BOSIAD, and Yeşim Group for their contributions to the realization of the project.
BOSIAD Chairman Rasim Çağan, one of the project's stakeholders, emphasized in his remarks that a productivity-focused work culture is of great importance for Türkiye’s sustainable development and competitiveness. Noting that vocational education plays a critical role in this transformation, Çağan stated that school-industry collaborations should be expanded to better prepare students for professional life. Highlighting that the Lean Thinking Training will provide important benefits to be passed on to younger generations through teachers, Çağan thanked all stakeholders who contributed to the realization of the project, as well as the teachers for their interest in the program.
The program, which enabled teachers to observe production environments firsthand and experience the lean thinking approach in practice, aims to strengthen knowledge sharing between education and industry.
