Third Cycle of the “People First in Different Geographies” Project Has Been Completed in Egypt

The third cycle of “People First in Different Geographies”, a project launched by Yeşim Group in Türkiye seven years ago and implemented in Egypt over the past three years, has been completed with a certificate ceremony held for the students of El Mostaqbal Official Language School. 

The project aims to foster a culture of volunteering, active citizenship, and sustainability awareness among young people, and throughout the academic year, students took part in a variety of training sessions and hands-on activities. 

Implemented simultaneously in Türkiye and Egypt, the “People First in Different Geographies” project continues to empower young people for a sustainable future. Inspired by the spirit of volunteerism and social benefit embraced by the late Şükrü Şankaya, one of the founders of Yeşim Group, the project continues to reach young people through in-person sessions with high school and university students in Bursa, as well as online and hands-on training programs in Egypt.

This year in Egypt, the program was carried out in collaboration with El Mostaqbal Official Language School. From October to June, students participated in weekly online training sessions designed to raise awareness of volunteerism, active citizenship, and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Implemented by Project Executive Zeynep Cesur and carried out over the course of an academic year, the program aimed to strengthen students’ sense of social responsibility and support their development as individuals who are sensitive to social issues.

During the final phase of the program, students had the opportunity to visit Jade Textile facilities and observe production processes on site. During the factory tour, conducted under the guidance of Moataz Abu Bakr, Country Manager for Corporate Communications, Government Relations and Brand at Jade Textile, students received information about the production processes and working environment.
As part of the project, various practical activities were also carried out to promote environmental awareness and sustainable living habits. In collaboration with You Think Green (YTG), an NGO operating in the environmental field in Egypt, sustainability awareness training sessions, tree-planting activities, clothing recycling initiatives, and creative workshops were organized to help students build awareness of environmental responsibility. Organized by Project Executive Zeynep Cesur, these activities enabled students to reinforce their theoretical knowledge through practical applications.

Students who successfully completed the training program received their certificates and graduated from the project at a ceremony attended by Dilek Cesur, Director of Corporate Communications and Brand at Yeşim Group; Mohamed Sameh, General Manager of Jade Textile Cairo; Moataz Abu Bakr, Country Manager of Corporate Communications, Government Relations and Brand at Jade Textile; and Saleh Nasr, Country HR Manager at Jade Textile.

About the People First in Different Geographies Project

Launched by Yeşim Group in Bursa seven years ago, the “People First in Different Geographies” project has been implemented bilingually in both Türkiye and Egypt for the past three years. Following the inclusion of 10th of Ramadan High School last year, the project continued this year with the participation of students from El Mostaqbal Official Language School.

Through the year-long program, the project aims to raise young people’s awareness of volunteerism, active citizenship, and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Students who successfully complete the training program are entitled to receive certificates at the end of the year.
